The 5th grade classes at the Fowler School in Maynard, MA., made a terrific Log's Life Mural. Robin enjoyed working with Denise Hatch, the reading specialist and Sean Perham, the art teacher and their students.

Robin resumed workshops after the pandemic (yeah!) at the Walbran Elementary School in the Orishany Central School district. A special thank you to Stacy DeFabio and Dayna Franz, and especially to Hilda Moses who brought me to this school 13 years before and came to help with her retired colleagues to help the students in this workshop.

The Greenfield Gallery, in Greenfield, MA, hosted a group show for the Western Massachusetts Illustrators Guild, including nine of Robin's paintings. Four of Robin's 3-D paper sculptures graced the front window of the gallery.

July 16 - October 15, 2018

Two of Robin's paintings from "Leaflets Three, Let It Be" were on exhibit in the 50th Anniversary Juried Exhibition of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators. One of Robin's paintings from "Leaflets Three, Let It Be" was in the group show "Four Seasons ~ Five Senses" at The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art, in Amherst, MA. This show was organized by the Western Massachusetts Illustrators Guild (WMIG).

Robin came to the Hawlemont School in Charlemont, MA. She worked with the students to create a terrific mural, coordinating with the school's theme of Flowering Gardens. The international juried show "Focus on Nature XIV" displayed Robin's painting "Opossum and Insects on Poison Ivy" at the Roger Tory Peteson Institute of Natural History, Jamestown, NY. Robin presented a hands-on workshop on March 18 at the Institute.

Robin led an all-day program at The Olana Partnership, in Hudson, NY, during the February school vacation week. Entitled "3-D Underwater Worlds; Art Making with Robin Brickman," this event was for 5 - 12 year olds and the results were terrific.

The students in pre-K through grade 3, of the Crestwood Primary School, Mantua, Ohio, worked with Robin to create a forest habitat mural based on her book, "A Log's Life." The Weekly Villager wrote a nice article about the workshop.

Robin worked at the ER Andrews Elementary School in Morrisville, NY. The K-2 grade students created a stunning "Wings" mural. It includes birds, insects, and bats.

Robin was at the St. Anthony School in Winstead, CT. The students in Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades created a wonderful "Peaceable Kingdom mural."

July 17, 2013

One-hundred and eighteen students in the North Adams Public School 21st Century Summer Science Camp, in Massachusetts. This is an a summer program financed with grants, where Robin worked with students in grades 1-3 to create a "Circle of Life" habitat mural.

Noella Carlow, Director: "One of the outcomes listed in the grant is the increasing of skill level in literacy. Robin's presentation was an excellent vehicle by which to include literacy in the camp...Robin was very well prepared, organized and her presentation was simple in terms so that students understood what to do for the creation of the mural...I would highly recommend this program. We would LOVE to arrange for Robin to bring her program into our 21st Century After School Program."

Robin helped the first grade students of the Mechanicville Elementary School, in Mechanicville, NY. They created a colorful "Wings" mural, making insects, birds, and bats with paper.

Robin had a wonderful time working with the entire school (grades K - 9) at The Pine Cobble School, in Williamstown, MA. Here is what one of the teachers wrote: "The workshop was just fantastic and so well run. Everyone, from the tall to the small created something, had fun, and learned so much. The mural looks great...I often find kids pausing by it to admire their cooperative effort. Thanks again for a wonderful day."

January 14 - 18, 2013

Over the course of five days, Robin worked with hundreds of students each day, at five different schools in Bullhead City, Arizona.

Thank you to Michael Oakleaf, and all of the other teachers, librarians, and staff, at Sunrise Elementary, Young Scholars Academy, Diamondback Elementary, Coyote Canyon Elementary, and Camp Mohave Elementary schools!

Here are some of the comments: "I heard nothing by positive comments from the teachers. They felt it was engaging, instructional, and fun. It was a very busy, but good, day. Our finished coral sea mural is awesome! Students keep checking it out each day...The teachers had just as much fun as the students. It was a unifying experience."

Robin was at the Craneville Elementary School in Dalton, MA for the second time! The second grade classes created a "Peaceable Kingdom" mural. The "Log's Life" mural created during her previous visit is on display in the library.

February 15-16, 2010

Robin directed a drop-in program at the Peabody Essex Museum, in Salem, MA. Visitors were able to create a tropical mural in the Atrium of the PEM using Robin's cut and sculpted paper techniques. She also displayed original paintings from her books and "work in progress" for her Vernal Pool series.

Robin was at the 38th Annual Children's Literature Festival in Warrensburg, MO. In addition to seeing co-author, Sneed Collard, she displayed original art from their books.

Robin taught a course on Picturebook Illustration at Williams College. Thirteen students created a painting based on one of Aesop's Fables. The class had several field trips: The Eric Carle Museum, The Norman Rockwell Museum, The Clark Art Institute, and a special lecture by Margaret Chang.

Robin completed a five day residency at the Charlton Heights Elementary School, in NY. With the help of three wonderful art teachers, she guided the K-5 classes in a mask-making project for the school's upcoming Harvest Celebration.
